Army Training
In May Jordan Road Surfacing will be joined by 2 Armed Forces Royal Engineers for a weeks work experience. The engineers are currently going through engineering degrees and are looking to see the latest techniques in pavement construction and to see what modern plant is available in the industry. With Jordan's having all up to date planers and pavers used for all manor of works. The engineers will be looking for best available techniques to take back with them for MOD works.
Leicester Lions Speedway
Jordan Road Surfacing Ltd is now the proud sponsor of Leicester Lions speedway with the renaming of the stadium to the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium and opening day on 2nd March, the season kicked off on the 29th March away to Scunthorpe with the first home fixture being on the 30th March to Sheffield.
Patching Contracts Awarded
In Nottinghamshire as part of a joint venture with Lafarge Tarmac, Jordans have helped to secure a 5 year surfacing term maintenance contract with a potential 5 year extension. Jordans element within this contract is all patching works within the county.
Jordans have also secured two shorter term patching contracts in Derbyshire and Leicestershire south these are for a duration of between 12 to 18 months with possible extensions, these contracts are secured direct to the county council.
Commitment to Training
Two more of Jordans senior management Tom Jordan and Ray Barry have furthered themselves by achieving NVQ level 5 in Management and helping them secure a CSCS black card giving them Contract Manager status. This now includes 3 managers who have achieved this and 2 more are going through the NVQ process.
We have also had two of our Managers Billy Ambrose and Lee Miller pass the Supervisor Safety Training Scheme course (SSTS) and we are in the process of enrolling several more.
All this goes towards keeping up to date with all health & safety requirements for operator training and to maintain Jordans Platinum award from CSCS for achieving 95% of the workforce being industry qualified.
